Kuranda Scenic Railway is visiting Kuranda Village and Rainforestation.
This Kuranda Scenic Railway tour operates Tuesday, Thursday Saturday and Sundays. Commencing at 7:45 am. and finishing at 5:00 pm. The Tour includes the train journey and visits to Rainforestation and the Kuranda Markets.
Kuranda Scenic Railway
The day begins with a pick up from your accommodation, dropping your at the Cairns Central Railway Station for your train journey along the Macalister Range to Kuranda.
History of the Kuranda Scenic Railway
This scenic, historical railway commenced construction in 1886 and completed in 1891.
The railway constructed to climb from sea level up 328 metres up the Macalister Range.
Travels through 15 handmade tunnels and over 37 bridges arriving right in the centre of the Kuranda Village.
The railways were built to reach the goldfields and valuable timbers from the Barron Gorge.
How long is the Kuranda Train ride?
Take the Kuranda Scenic Railway passes through the Cairns suburbs of Stratford, Freshwater and Redlynch.
The Kuranda Train ride includes a stop a the Barron Falls a great view and some excellent photo opportunity.
This Kuranda Train journey takes one and hour and fifty-five minutes each way.
In addition, we visit Rainforestation explore the Rainforest on an authentic World War 2 Army Duck on both land and water!

See Koalas, Tasmanian Devils, crocodiles, the endangered Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo and Cassowary.
Hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies on a wildlife keeper guided Tour. There is also a fantastic photo opportunity to have a cuddle with a koala.
Aboriginal Cultural Experience
Don’t miss the world-famous Rainforestation Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience and learn about authentic Indigenous culture.
Experience the Dreamtime Walk, learn about didgeridoo, spear throwing presentation and boomerang throwing.
After that, take the shuttle into Kuranda Village and explore the World famous Kuranda markets.
During this time, discover local artists, delicious fresh snacks, a wide range of souvenirs and Aboriginal Artefacts.
Your day concludes by travelling on the Kuranda Range to Cairns on an100% electric coach. Arrive at your accommodation at approximately 5 pm.
