Half-day Reef Tours Cairns is awesome for people who are short of time, arriving into Cairns after most Great Barrier Reef tours have already departed or if you just love the idea of a fast jet boat ride to the outer barrier reef. This tour commences at 11 am and returns to Cairns at 4:15 pm.
About our half-day reef tour
Jump aboard this Jet-boat and enjoy the ride to the Outer Great Barrier Reef!
This afternoon tour includes exciting, quick travel and all the activities of a full day cruise but just in half a day!
Enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving, and a glass-bottom boat coral viewing tour and not depart until 11.00 am so plenty of time for a ‘sleep in’.
Our cheerful, helpful crew will greet you and look after you throughout your time with us.
We recommend you only take what you need – no big bags or jewellery or even shoes as we have a ‘no shoe’ policy whilst you are on board the vessel and an excellent soft non-slip deck.
To save time when you arrive at the reef we suggest you wear your swimming costumes under your clothing.
Great Barrier Reef Snorkelling
Included in you Great Barrier Reef half-day tour is a guided snorkelling tour of Hastings Reef, your guided tour will visit Nemo Mountain, Seastar Lagoon and the Fishbowl. We will see brightly coloured fish, coral and clams.
Great Barrier Reef scuba diving
Scuba diving is the best way to interact with the fish on the Great Barrier Reef, scuba diving allows you to look through caves and swim-throughs under coral ledges, you will definitely see more on a scuba dive.
Introductory and certified scuba diving is only available for guests who prebook.
Certified Scuba Diving
Certified divers all included a guide on this half-day tour of the Great Barrier Reef. The scuba diving guides are very familiar with the reef and will make sure that you see the best of the reef.
Introductory Scuba Diving
Don’t miss the opportunity to try scuba diving, a completely different view of the reef that allows you to get up close and interact with the brightly coloured marine life.
Glass Bottom Boat Tour
A glass-bottom boat tour will take you over the coral, during this time the skipper will explain about the coral and reef fish as you are floating over the reef.
Half-day tour to the Outer Barrier Reef
Once you are on board and we are ready to depart your captain will introduce you to the crew and they will go through the day with you. A quick safety demonstration and then hold on, it’s off to the Reef on this mighty jet boat.
Upon arriving at Hastings Reef, the crew will give you a quick briefing and then it is into the water! We highly recommend the snorkel tour as part of your day, and this is approximately 45 long. Otherwise enjoy snorkelling the Reef with your buddy.
There is a glass-bottom boat tour available where you can learn more about the Great Barrier Reef while and after that, and you will be able to get back into the water!
