The Army Duck

The DUKW (nicknamed Duck) is a six-wheel-drive amphibious variant of the 2-ton CCKW trucks employed in World War II. DUKWs and amphibious tour buses are still used as tourist transport worldwide.

Rainforestation features twelve of these antique vehicles. Each has 6-wheel drive, a propeller and a rudder, with seating for up to 30 passengers. Your educated Duck Captain will point out beautiful flora and fauna as you pass them. Enjoy a 45-minute rainforest tour before diving into the lake for a cruise with even more wildlife to view.

After your tour, you can explore the tropical fruit orchard. Here you can learn about more than 60 different tropical fruit trees.

Koala and Wildlife Park

The Koala and Wildlife Park allows guests to learn about Australian native animals and get up close and personal with them! You can take as much time as you like to explore Wildlife Park. With several raised boardwalks that offer clear views of the area around you. See what Australian creatures you can spot, reptiles and the Kuranda Rainforest.

The pamagirri aboriginals telling a story through dance
Discover traditional dances from different tribal areas across Far North Queensland.

The Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience includes a dance performance and a Dreamtime walk. The rainforest amphitheatre is a stunning background for the Pamagirri Dance Performance. Let them show you a story that describes animals, food collection, and hunting. Coupled with the didgeridoo and clapsticks, let the story unfold. In addition, they will show you how didgeridoos are made and used in ceremonies. Watch as they play this by making animal sounds such as Kangaroo and Kookaburra!

Be sure to pay close attention to the performance! Because there is a surprise for the audience at the end!

Kuranda Village

Join the 100% Electric Bus to travel back into Kuranda Village. As soon as you arrive in Kuranda, be welcome to ‘the village in the rainforest.’ You’ll see why Kuranda Village has been a popular tourist spot since the early 1900s. For one thing, Kuranda’s village is full of colour, with interesting stores, musicians, and artists. Everywhere you look in the village is lush tropical greenery. You will have about three hours to explore the Kuranda village before it is time to head home.

Skyrail Rainforest Experience

It will eventually be time to begin the journey home. After boarding your gondola, the Skyrail will take you back to Cairns.

Indeed, the best way to travel between Cairns and Kuranda is by Skyrail. As you go down the mountain, enjoy the stunning ocean views. When you skim over the UNESCO-listed Wet Tropics Rainforest treetops, you will feel flying!

Red Peak and Barron Falls are the two stations along your way. The rainforest here is pristine, so take a stroll around them. It is also a great chance to learn more about the local flora and animals from the guide.

A visit to the ‘The Edge’ lookout is undoubtedly one of the highlights of this tour. From the top of Barron Falls, the views are stunning. We suggest about 1.5 hours of travel time. With this in mind, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the Skyrail journey. Not to mention the amount of time spent at each station. All in all, there is no better way to wrap up a Kuranda Rainforest tour.
