Kuranda Skyrail and Rainforestation
Kuranda Skyrail and Rainforestation is a fantastic way to explore Kuranda. At the top of the Kuranda Range, you will find one of Cairns’s most loved attractions. Inside Rainforestation, you will find a host of animals. As well as a fantastic Aboriginal Culture display. This is, without a doubt, one of the greatest ways to see the stunning rainforest.
Start your day by taking a bus trip to Rainforestation in Kuranda
Here you can experience Aboriginal Culture with dance and music. They will teach you how to throw not just a boomerang but also a spear! Take a ride on the WWII Army Duck before exploring the Tropical Fruit Orchards. Enjoy a delicious supper at the restaurant while gazing out over the beautiful lagoon. Visit various Australian animals, including cuddling a Koala!
The Army Duck
The DUKW (nicknamed Duck) is an aquatic six-wheel-drive version of a WWII vehicle. DUKWs are still used across the world in tours.
Rainforestation has twelve of these classic cars. Each has a 6-wheel drive system, a propeller, a rudder, and seats for up to 30 people. Your expert Duck Captain will point out interesting flora and animals as you travel through the rainforest. Enjoy a 45-minute rainforest tour before embarking on a lake cruise to see even more animals.
After your tour, pay a visit to the tropical fruit orchard. Here you can learn about over 60 exotic tropical fruit trees.
The Koala and Wildlife Park educates visitors about Australia’s natural creatures. In addition, you may interact with them up close! You are free to spend as much time as you like exploring the Wildlife Park. With the many elevated boardwalks that provide easy viewing of the surroundings. So, go ahead and see what Australian creatures and reptiles you can spot in the Kuranda Rainforest.
Koala and Wildlife Park
Hand-feed the kangaroos and wallabies that wander the grounds freely. Keep an eye out for the highly endangered cassowary and Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo as well.
Then Meet Juliet, our sly wombat, and the rest of the natural animals.
Not to mention Ricky, the naughty Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, who is always talking. The Reptile House has a variety of pythons and lizards. Don’t forget to look for the Koalas!
Among the Wildlife Presentations available during the day are Dingo Enrichment, Crocodile Feeding, and Macropod Feeding. Keep in mind that your Wildlife Park Admission includes unrestricted re-entry throughout the day. So, return as frequently as you like.
Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience
One of the great highlights of your Kuranda Skyrail and Rainforestation Experience is a chance to learn more about Aboriginal Culture. At the Rainforestation Nature Park, they preserve and promote this way of life. When you visit Kuranda, you can take part in Dreamtime stories and historical customs.
The Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience includes a dance performance and a Dreamtime trek. The Pamagirri Dance Performance is held in a spectacular forest amphitheatre. Feel the culture come to life as they tell you a story about animals, food, and hunting. With the didgeridoo and clapsticks, you can listen to the story unfold. Also, observe how didgeridoos are made and used in rituals. So keep an eye on how they play by making animal noises like kangaroos and kookaburras!
In fact, keep a close watch on how things are going! Because there is a surprise for the audience at the end!
Return to Kuranda Village aboard the all-electric bus. Kuranda Village, sometimes known as “The Village in the Rainforest,” has been a popular tourist destination since the early 1900s. Kuranda’s township, for example, is alive with unique stores, performers, and artists. Kuranda is a stunning location surrounded by lush tropical greenery. Before heading to the Kuranda Skyrail, you will have around 1-3 hours to visit the town. This offers you plenty of time to investigate this strange village!
Kuranda Skyrail Cableway
After all of your exploring is complete, it will be time to start the journey home. So jump onboard your gondola and Skyrail will take you back to Cairns.
The Skyrail, which is 7.5 kilometres long, traverses Kuranda Mountain. Red Peak and Barron Falls are the two mid-stations on your route. You may also learn a lot about the rainforest by visiting these stations. Go for a stroll in the rainforest since it is unspoilt. It’s also a great chance to learn about the local animals and plants from your guide. Visit the CSIRO Interpretation Station for more information.
A visit to the ‘The Edge’ overlook is one of the highlights of this tour. The views from the top of Barron Falls are just breathtaking. These famous falls are also known as Din Din. For many years, they have played an important role in Djabuganydji tales.
We recommend leaving 1.5 hours for travel. So, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the Skyrail if you keep this in mind. Not to mention the time spent at each of the two stations. The perfect way to wrap up your Kuranda Skyrail and Rainforestation tour!
