Rainforestation

Start your day by travelling by bus to Rainforestation in Kuranda. Through dance and song, you can learn about Aboriginal culture. They will teach you not only how to throw a boomerang but also how to throw a spear! Before visiting the Tropical Fruit Orchards, ride the WWII Army Duck. Visit with some native animals, such as the Koalas who are waiting for a cuddle!

Army Duck cruising in water
The Army Duck can easily go from a land tour into a Boat Cruise.

The Army Duck

The DUKW (nicknamed Duck) is a six-wheel-drive amphibious version of World War II’s 2-ton CCKW vehicles. DUKWs are still used for tourist transport around the world.

Twelve of these vintage cars may be found in Rainforestation. Each has a 6-wheel driving system, a propeller, and a rudder.  With seating for up to 30 passengers, it is quite comfortable! During your tour, your Duck Captain will point out flora and fauna as you pass by. Enjoy a 45-minute rainforest tour before driving into the lake. Now it has turned into a boat cruise! Along the way, you may see even more animals. After your Army Duck tour, it is time to visit the tropical fruit orchard. Here you can learn about over 60 different tropical fruit plants.

Koala and Wildlife Park

Koalas at Rainforestation
Visit iconic Australian Animals like Koalas.

The Koala and Wildlife Park is home to many Australian native animals. Some of which you can get up close and personal with! You may spend as much time as you like exploring Wildlife Park. With many raised boardwalks that give good views of the surrounding area. See what Australian critters and reptiles you can spot.

Hand feed the free-roaming Kangaroos found at the Wildlife Park.

Hand feed the kangaroos and wallabies who roam freely on the grounds. Keep a lookout for the critically endangered cassowary and Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo. Meet Juliet, our sneaky wombat, and other natural wildlife. Ricky, the cheeky Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo, may also be found. You may also find a variety of pythons and lizards at the Reptile House. By all means, don’t forget to pay a visit to the Koalas!

Crocodile Feeding, Dingo Enrichment, and Macropod Feeding are just a few of the Wildlife Presentations available during the day. Remember that your Wildlife Park Admission includes unlimited re-entry on the day of your visit, so come back as often as you like.

Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience

Rainforestation Nature Park preserves and celebrates Indigenous Australian culture. Here you can learn about the Dreamtime as well as old customs.

Guests learning traditional tribal dances with the Pamagirri Experience
Take part in the traditional dance with the Pamagirri Dance Show.

A dance show and a Dreamtime walk are part of the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience. The Pamagirri Dance Performance takes place in a stunning rainforest arena. Watch as they tell you a story about animals, food-collecting, and hunting. Let the tale unfold with the didgeridoo and clapsticks. Not only can you learn how to make a didgeridoo but also how to use it. See how they play these by making animal noises, such as kangaroos and kookaburras!

Make sure to keep a careful eye on the performance! Because there is a surprise at the end for the audience!

Kuranda Village

Join the 100% Electric Bus to travel back into Kuranda Village. With buses running between 12 Noon and 2 pm, you can choose when you travel! You’ll soon see why Kuranda has been a popular tourist spot since the early 1900s. The village is full of colour, with interesting stores, musicians, and artists everywhere you look! With lush green rainforest everywhere you look, you will feel as though you are in paradise!

Sooner or later, it will be time to wrap up the day. So it is time to meet your shuttle outside the Butterfly Sanctuary for your journey home.
