The Army Duck

The DUKW (nicknamed Duck) is an aquatic variant of the CCKW vehicles used during WWII. Around the world, DUKWs are still used for tourist transportation.

There are twelve of these antique ducks in Rainforestation. Each has 6-wheel drive system, a propeller, and a rudder. It has space for up to 30 passengers, and for this reason, it is pretty comfy!

Your Duck Captain will point out plants and animal wildlife as you pass by the Rainforest on your trip. Before driving into the lake, take a 45-minute rainforest tour. It has now evolved into a boat cruise! You could spot even more creatures along the way. Finally, after your Army Duck tour, head to the tropical fruit orchard. Here you can learn about over 60 different tropical fruit trees.

The Koala and Wildlife Park allows guests to learn about another aspect of Australian Culture while getting up close and personal with native Australian animals.

You can take as much time as possible to explore our Wildlife Park. It is featuring several high boardwalks that offer clear views of a variety of Australian creatures and reptiles.

The Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo are native to Far North Queensland! All of these activities are available at the Cairns Rainforestation Nature Park.

Meet our Wildlife Friends at Rainforestation Nature Park

Learn more about Ricky the cheeky Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo. Look at Juliet, our cunning wombat, and meet Ned and Kelly, our Alpine Dingoes. Also, visit Neville and Dennis, Cairns’ only Tasmanian Devils! Visit our reptile house to observe a variety of pythons and lizards, as well as the koala, an iconic animal native to Australia.

Visit Crocodiles and other reptiles at the Reptile House

Jack the Ripper is a saltwater crocodile that is 5 metres in length, weighs 650 kilogrammes, and is said to be responsible for the deaths of 12 of his girlfriends in the past. He certainly is the main highlight of our wildlife park. With a raised viewing platform at his enclosure, you can see him up close while being safe!

On the opposite side of Jack is an enclosure with fresh water.  This is home to several young crocodiles, turtles, and lizards lazing in the heat and swimming.

Plan your trip to see one of the many Wildlife Presentations throughout the day. These shows include crocodile feeding, dingo enrichment, and feeding macropods. Keep in mind that the Wildlife Park Entry fee grants you repeated re-entry on the day of your visit. Thus, you are welcome to return as frequently as you wish.

Kuranda Village

Soon enough, it will be time to depart the Cairns Rainforestation Nature Park and head into Kuranda, “The Village in the Rainforest”. Join the 100% Electric Bus for a trip back to Kuranda Village. With buses operating between noon and 2 p.m., you will undoubtedly have plenty of time choices!

You will quickly see why Kuranda has been a famous tourist destination since the early 1900s. The village is vibrant, with unique businesses, musicians, and artists everywhere! You’ll feel like you’re in paradise due to the dense rainforest surrounding you.

Eventually, it will be time to conclude the day. It is time to meet your shuttle outside the Butterfly Sanctuary and return home. There are options to upgrade your package so you can travel home with the Kuranda Scenic Railway or Skyrail Cableway.
