About the Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef covers an area of nearly 345,000 square kilometres.   Stretching from Fraser Island in Queensland and continuing North for 2,300 kilometres to Papua New Guinea.

Australia’s Great Barrier Reef represents an enormous diversity of animals.  The Great Barrier Reef is the World’s most extensive coral reef system.  With an average depth of 35 metres and between 60 and 250 kilometres in width.

The Great Barrier Reef is mainly known for its colourful reefs. It also provides a home for a massive number of plants and animals.

 

About the Great Barrier Reef pontoon, Cairns.

  • Departing daily from Cairns at 10:30 am, with check-in from the Reef Fleet Terminal at 10:00 am.
  • Arriving back in Cairns at 5:30 pm.

Cruise in comfort on board a fast and modern catamaran. During your time at the reef, there are several ways to see the reef.  Start with snorkelling and scuba diving, an excellent way to get up close and personal.  For those who which to remain dry, there are also semi-submersible tours and an underwater observatory.

There is also an excellent opportunity to experience a spectacular helicopter flight over the Reef.

  • Morning Tea and coffee served before the departure from Cairns.
  • Cake selection.
  • Hot and cold buffet lunch.
  • Afternoon tea and coffee while at the platform, cheese and biscuits on the return journey.
