This Kuranda Scenic Railway and GBR tour is an excellent tour package; The time is over two full days, including a full day visiting Kuranda and the village in the rainforest, travelling on the Kuranda Train and the Skyrail.   Next, a full day on our all-inclusive tour to the Outer Great Barrier Reef.

Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail

This tour combines the Kuranda train with the world-famous Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.

During your day, you will be able to see the best of Kuranda.

Starting on the Kuranda Scenic railway, you will learn about the history of the Tropical North. Spend some free time exploring Kuranda and local art and craft markets.  Then discover some of the fantastic Aussie wildlife experiences.

After a day in Kuranda, board the Skyrail for an extraordinary birds-eye-view of the rainforest.

Soar silently only meters above the rainforest canopy with an incredible view of the mighty Barron Falls.

Great Barrier Reef Tour

Today we will be visiting one of the World’s Natural Wonders.  Home to over 1600 species of fish.   There is also over 1400 species of coral.

First complimentary bus transfers are available for all guests.  Next, enjoy our famous  BBQ bacon and egg breakfast burger.

This GBR Tour Includes scuba diving on two pristine Outer Great Barrier Reef locations.

Along the way, enjoy our informative and interactive marine biologist presentation.

Next in the water is the best way to see the reef, and our friendly crew will be delighted to assist you.

While you are at the Great Barrier Reef, you will be able to snorkel and scuba dive.  Then come face to face with brightly coloured tropical fish and coral.

The friendly crew will also help anyone who is nervous or who cannot swim in the water.

Kuranda Itinerary

  • 08:45 am approximately depart your hotel
  • 10:00 am Travel to Kuranda Village by Skyrail
  • 11:15 am – 3:15 pm Enjoy free time to explore Kuranda Village.  Take in the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary, or jump on the shuttle bus to Rainforestation Nature Park (Additional costs)
  • 3.15 pm Be ready at the Kuranda Railway Station for your 3.30 pm departure
  • 5.15 pm arrive at Cairns Railway Station for the bus transfer back to your hotel.

Great Barrier Reef Itinerary

  • 07:30 – Board Reef Experience boat at the Cairns Marina ‘A-Finger’ for check-in
  • 08:00 – Approximate departure & Safety Talk with snorkel briefing
  • 08:30 – Marine Biology presentation,
  • 09:00  – Scuba diving briefing
  • 09:30 – Arrive at our first spectacular reef site, snorkel and scuba diving.
  • 10:30 – Glass Bottom Boat Tour (approximately 20-minute tour)
  • 12:30 – Lunch
  • 13:00 – Cruise to our second location to explore forests of coral, large sea fans and black coral trees in its shallow lagoons
  • 15:00 – Depart the Great Barrier Reef
  • 15:30 – Glass of wine, tropical fruits, cheese & biscuits
  • 16:30 – Arrive back in Cairns

Important information Kuranda Tour

While both the Skyrail and Train are Wheelchair accessible, please let us know if any mobility assistance at the time of booking.

While the Kuranda Village is relatively small, there is a lot of walking involved. The main street is slightly inclined, but a low-moderate fitness level will move around with ease.

Scuba diving Information

We have a passion for showing you Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, so please make sure you understand the scuba diving laws.

Queensland, Australia, has the strictest scuba diving rules globally and the safest scuba diving record.   We are regulated by the Queensland Government Code of Practice and comply with all regulations, including medical as is the law.

To avoid disappointment on your day of travel, we strongly recommend that all of our passengers complete our dive medical questionnaire before booking, as some medical conditions, age, and medications may prevent you from scuba diving.   It is always our mission to provide our passengers with the very best Great Barrier Reef experience.

Flying after Scuba diving

It would be best not to fly or go to altitude for at least 18 hours after a scuba dive for a single no decompression scuba dive.  For multiple dives, you should not fly for 24 hours after your last dive.
If Skydiving or Hot Air Ballooning, you must wait 24 hours after your dive.
We recommend waiting a minimum of 24 hours whenever possible.
