The day begins

Your guide will pick you up from your Cairns hotel at approximately 8:00 am. From there, you will head Southwest towards the Atherton Tablelands region, nicknamed the “food bowl”.

This region has undoubtedly earned its’ nickname! It is home to a wide variety of crops including, coffee, sugar cane, mangoes, avocados, macadamia nuts, tea, citrus, and more. Additionally, dairy farming is also a staple of the Atherton Tablelands.

You will enjoy spectacular and diverse views of rolling hills and lush rainforest as you stop at eight different locations throughout the Gourmet food and wine tours Cairns.

 

Enjoy locally grown, native fruits

Stop 1: Sunset ridge farm. Enjoy breathtaking country views at this exclusive private property as you enjoy the native fruits grown at this family-run business. Your delicious breakfast will showcase Australia’s native Davidson Plum and Lemon Aspen.

Stop 2: Rainforest Bounty. Located on the outskirts of Malanda, you will enjoy local cheeses accompanied by the artisan condiments made from the locally grown, and native fruits. Indulge in a cocktail made from these native fruits, or enjoy a glass of wine while you take in the beautiful views.

Time for lunch!

Stop 3: The Australian Platypus Park at Tarzali Lakes. Before lunch, you will have the chance to see one of the world’s most mysterious creatures, the Platypus. Lunch includes an array of handcrafted smoked products. Enjoy crocodile, Yabby (crayfish), and Kangaroo alongside fresh salads. Wash it all down with a “Tarzali Lakes” boutique beer or Dragon Fruit cider.

Stop 4: Gallo Dairyland. This fully operational dairy farm produces a variety of locally made cheeses and handcrafted, Swiss-style chocolates. Taste and purchase these delicious treats before meeting some of the friendly animals living at this property.

Stop 5: The Humpy. The Humpy is the best place to purchase freshly harvested local produce as well as locally made jams, sauces, and nuts. Purchase some goodies to enjoy for the rest of your stay and taste the seasonal food.

It’s happy hour!

Stop 6: Mount Uncle Distillery. Named Australia’s distillery of the year for 2017, Mount Uncle is North Queensland’s first and only distillery! Explore the impressive property grounds and taste their award-winning liqueurs and spirits.

Stop 7: Debrueys Boutique Tropical Winery. This mango orchard is home to Debruey’s. Here, tropical wines, liqueurs, cream liqueurs and Ports are made. Sip a selection of these delightful products while enjoying views of the lake and waterfall.

Stop 8: Jaques Coffee Plantation. Like any good meal, your day finishes with a delicious cup of locally made coffee. Enjoy your cuppa alongside freshly made scones served with local jam and Mungalli cream at this family coffee plantation which is home to 85,000 Arabica coffee trees!
